Your comments about family rules and media are very helpful and I will use this information to think about how to work with my teen. I agree that we must be good role models for our teens and working on open communication is a must.

What an absolutely excellent and practical series of suggestions. I especially agree that media exposure, while necessary, needs to be filtered with an emphasis on information-sharing. ESPECIALLY when it comes to so-called "reality tv"; this stuff is harmful, and about as "real" as the personalities of the sad people who populate the sad genre.

Thank you for your excellent remarks. I hope to use them for a resource with other parents.
