Now that Christmas is over we are beginning to put all that behind us and looking forward to the new year. That means for many; setting New Years Resolutions. Any one that works out at a gym know how that works. People set great expectations for themselves and then by Valentines Day they have fallen off the treadmill until next year. So how do your make a new beginning without overdoing it and not having good follow through.
You need to look at these goals carefully. Pick one or two goals and make them doable. People tend to set goals they wish they would accomplish like going to the gym 5 days a week. Determine how many days you will actually follow through. If this is just 2 days a week and you have not been going that is progress. Set that goal and when that is easy reevaluate. Set the goals so they are small and manageable.
Pick only one or two goals. You might choose one personal goal and one parenting goal. You may decide to add exercise 2 days a week and take a break before you address a misbehavior with your child. These two small goals would be great goals to start with and you might be able to keep them. Tomorrow I will discuss ways to stay on the treadmill.
