Easter is indeed a time of new beginnings, as Sherri talked about in her last blog. All of us should take an inventory of how we are interacting with others and try to determine if we need to make changes. This is especially true of our interactions with our teens.
I would like to suggest that as parents we stop and look at our family values and how that has shaped our values. As Christians we celebrate Easter at this time. This year, our Jewish friends are currently celebrating Passover. Reflecting on what each of those religous celebrations signify is very important at this time. Think about what values you would like your teen to take from this celebration.
Before you start outlining family values to your teen, let your teen explain to you how he sees this season of religious celebration. You might be pleasantly surprised to hear that he has absorbed family values raealated to this time.
Happy Easter and Passover to your families,
Dr. Debra
