Mother's Day is a day in which we honor mothers. Many families may do something together such as having breakfast or brunch, or attending church or some other event. Celebration occurs for mothers, but a bigger celebration of family is taking place. By taking time to think about mothers, the entire family can reflect on the connections the family has with each other.
All families have positive memories and things to celebrate. Too often we get caught up in the stressors of hard times or day-to-day life and forget to honor those important connections we have with our family. Remembering each other and some of those positive memories can enhance communication between family members.
I encourage parents to keep notes about cherished memories they have of their family and children. Reviewing those notes during difficult times can help us keep things in perspective.
But for today, celebrate the family!
