Differences between people are items we all deal with in life. Our differences - diversity - make life interesting and help us learn and broaden our way to viewing issues. But diversity is something that teens may alternate between embracing and between shunning. Because trying to understand diversity is not easy.
Too many times in history we see events in which diversity was not only allowed, but diverse peoples were strongly discrimated against or even murdered. The concentration camps ofGermany are a brutal reminder of how rapidly things can change when diversity is not embraced.
Work with your teen to help him understand the importance of embracing and understanding differences among people.
