We have talked about this before, but about 4 to 6 weeks before school starts back is a good time to rethink life skills for teens. We think of all the tasks a teen should be able to do for himself, such as cleaning, cooking, grooming, etc. But we do not always think of the benefits of teens doing something which requires responsibility. What might that be? An employed position or volunteer position, but your teen also has "work" to do at home. Those important chores include keeping his/her own room clean, and organizing for the fall semester.
Critical problem-solving is so important as a life skill for teens. Watch your teen deal with a problem and note his critical problem-solving skills. This could tell you what you still need to teach your teen.
